Why choose 18k Gold Filled and 304 Stainless Steel!?

What is gold filled jewelry?

Gold filled jewelry is made by a bonding layer of gold alloy to a base metal core (such as brass, copper, or silver). This creates a material that has the appearance and durability of solid gold but at a lower cost. Since, gold filled jewelry is bonded to a base metal, it is often more durable than solid gold jewelry. Which is fantastic for everyday wear!

What is the difference between gold plated, gold filled, and solid gold?

Gold plated jewelry is the least expensive and lowest quality jewelry; It is a good affordable jewelry option but just not for everyday wear! Gold plated means that it is an inexpensive base metal dipped in melted gold (typically a thin layer). Think of it as a cover!  This thin layer of gold cannot withstand everyday wear and being exposed to elements such as water for long periods of time; this is what makes it tarnish at a much faster rate. Solid gold is the kind of jewelry that every girl wants! Solid gold jewelry is the highest quality (a whopping 99.9% pure gold content when it is 24k) and most expensive type of gold jewelry! Solid gold is definitely the way to go when you are ready for a commitment! Gold filled is that lovely in between! Affordable, multiple style options, high quality, and perfect for everyday wear!

Is gold-filled jewelry tarnish resistant?

Yes! Gold filled jewelry is waterproof and tarnish resistant! I personally only ever wear gold filled jewelry and I can testify that it can withstand everyday wear; I never take mine off!

14k or 18k?

Gold filled jewelry is typically divided between two karats 14 and 18! Both are great options, however there are some differences! Essentially, 14k is known for its durability since it has a lower pure gold content and is higher in other alloy metals. 14k is made up of 58.3% of gold, or 14 parts gold and 10 parts other metal. 18k is known for its solid gold like appearance and it's great for sensitive skin! 18k is made up of 75% of gold and 25% of other metals. Since, 18k has more pure gold content its color will resemble a true solid gold color, as to where 14k will be a more muted gold color since it has less gold content. 18k can also be a tad bit pricier than 14k because of its higher percentage of gold. The main differences between 14k and 18k are their gold contents, coloring, and price points! Both are fantastic everyday jewelry options that can be worn wherever and whenever!

So, why choose 18k gold filled?

18k gold filled is the closest you can get to solid gold without breaking the bank! Its waterproof, tarnish resistant, durable, affordable, and so much more! As mentioned before, 18k is great for sensitive skin because it has a small percentage of alloy metals which lessens the possibility of someone with sensitive skin to have a reaction! This is why I chose 18k gold filled for all of my jewelry! Now, you can enjoy the beauty and durability throughout your everyday routine!

What is 304 Stainless Steel in charms

304 Stainless steel is a versatile, corrosion-resistant alloy that's commonly used in many industries. We use 304 stainless steels in charms, because gold filled cannot be casted into different shapes and colors that are used for charms and pendants. 304 stainless steel is also waterproof and tarnish resistant, making it comparable to gold filled.
